Entries: Entry fees are $25 per animal. Contestants are responsible for weighing their own animals prior to
entering contest. All winning animals are subject to a weight verification upon placing. Cash only for entries
ATM's are available on the fairgrounds.


Arrival: The barns will be open on Friday, Oct. 13 beginning at 4 p.m. Pen space will be available for lambs and goats inside the barn. Limited space is available for parking of trucks and trailers for those that wish to show out of their trailers. Space is not guaranteed.

Breeding Goat Show consisting of three are divisions including:

  • Doe Kids
  • Yearing Does
  • Aged Does

Entry fee: $25, Buckles awarded to Grand and Reserve Does.

Books Open:
Breeding First, 6-8:30 a.m.
Goats: Saturday, Oct. 14 , 6-8:30 a.m.
Lambs: Saturday, Oct. 14 , 6-8:30 a.m.

Judging:
Goats: Saturday, Oct. 14 , 9 a.m.
Lambs: Saturday, Oct. 14 , 9 a.m.

Market Goat Show Rules

Judge: Maddy Ainsley

ENTRY FEE: $25 PER ANIMAL

Entries accepted day of show. No early entries.

  1. Open to all 4-H and FFA members. Additionally, siblings of participants 5 to 8 years of age may participate in the market show and showmanship contest.
  2. Market wethers or market doe kids
  3. All animals must be free of external abscesses, sore mouth, ring worms, pink eye or parasites. They will be checked at the time of weigh-in. Any animals exhibiting any of these symptoms will not be allowed to enter or show. All livestock shall meet the Texas Animal Health Regulations.
  4. Exhibitors may show an unlimited number of animals
  5. Goats will be divided into three (3) divisions. Within each division there will be a maximum of four weight classes. It is up to the discretion of the committee as to how the weight breaks and classes are determined.
  6. Official entry card must be submitted between 7 - 8:30 a.m. Top 3 in each class will be re-weighed and must be within 5 lbs. of turn in weight. Blankets or socks must be removed.
  7. No minimum or maximum weight limit.
  8. Goats must have milk teeth. This may or may not be checked, based on the discretion of the committee.
  9. Jackpot Showmanship following judging. $5 entry fee to be paid back to the top three exhibitors. 1st–50%, 2nd–30%, 3rd–20%
    1. Pee-Wee up to 2nd grade - Free entry - ribbons only
    2. Pre-Junior - 3rd to 5th grade
    3. Junior - 6th to 8th grade
    4. Senior - 9th to 12th grade
  10. Showmanship participants must have competed in the regular goat show and must show their own animal.

Awards

  • Grand Overall Champion - $500 Scholarship
  • Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Goats will receive a trophy belt buckle.
  • Division Champions - Banner
  • Reserve Division Champions - Banner

All goats will be released immediately following show. All animals must be out of the barn by 8 p.m.

Market Lamb Show Rules

ENTRY FEE: $25 PER ANIMAL

Entries accepted day of show. No early entries.

  1. Wether and ewe lambs eligible to show.
  2. Lambs must be slick shorn.
  3. All animals must be free of external abscesses, sore mouth, ring worms, pink eye or parasites. They will be checked at the time of weigh-in. Any animals exhibiting any of these symptoms will not be allowed to enter or show. All livestock shall meet the Texas Animal Health Regulations.
  4. Exhibitors may show an unlimited number of animals.

  6. Show order by breed: Southdown, Fine Wool, Fine Wool Cross, Medium Wool.

Guadalupe County Lamb and Goat Shoot-Out Rules:

  1. Entry is free but you must have shown in the regular show to participate.
  2. You must reside in Guadalupe County to participate.
  3. You must be a 4-H or FFA member.
  4. You must show your own animal.
  5. There will only be one class of goats and one class of sheep.
  6. Grand will receive a belt buckle and Reserve will receive blankets.
  7. Judges will switch to judge the shoot-out from the regular show!
