Dear Friends of the Fair, What can you do for the upcoming Fair you ask? We need committed hard working volunteers from our community to partner with us to make this happen! Plus, the community to bring in those amazing entries. We are seeking a few positions that will need to be filled for the 2022 Fair. We are hoping to find the right person for these positions before this year’s Fair so they can have a one-on-one working training during this Fair and step into the position for the 2023 event. Some of those positions are in the Home Arts Department. They could possibly include the Art Department, Antique Department, and filling the position of Overall Committee Chair for the Home Arts. We will also be looking for someone to oversee the ribbons, and awards supply duties for all the events that happen over the Fair. If you are interested in one of these volunteer positions, please reach out to us. Some of the events that entries need to be planned for way in advance are the following. Get those plants ready for the Fruits, Vegetables & Sauces Department. Grow things for the Horticulture Division. Plant Hay for the Navarro FFA Hay Show. Take photos for those amazing Photography entries needed for competing for that Tri Color Ribbon. How about planting some Pumpkin seeds for the Pumpkin Decorating Contest? Or build the best Scarecrow for the Downtown Seguin Contest. Teachers calling all Teachers near and far! Get ready to save your spot for the School Tours Barnyard event. Have a youngster? Let’s dress them up in the Best Western Wear Contest! They can strut their stuff at the big event competing for the big title winner! We have Fair Market Days booths outside the gazebo area if you would like to become a vendor so you may want to start getting those items made. Also, inside the Seguin Event Center Coliseum we have MORE booths! So, you may want to prepare your merchandise in advance. Are you looking for a Horse event for your girls? We have the Miss Rodeo Guadalupe County, Miss Rodeo Guadalupe County Teen, and the Miss Rodeo Guadalupe County Princess (formerly known as Miss Round-Up/Little Miss Round-Up) happening on August 27th at Diamond F Arena. Dear Friends of the Fair, A well oiled engine. Kind of the way we see the Fair. The Fair has many committee’s that make the engine work. Currently we have some spots we would like to focus on adding volunteers to support the success of these events. First up is our Scholarship committee. Are you interested in awarding kids for a successful job well done? We need to add you to this committee. Currently serving on this committee is Gay Lynn Olsovsky, Kim Clingingsmith, Sarah Louque, Paula Olsovsky Lorton and Gail Damerau. Reach out to us at gcfairoffice@gmail.com. Or call 830-379-6477. Another new idea we have is a Fair Wall of Honor. The hope is to find past Fair supporters, members or those posthumously honored. We would like to gather photos to be shared in the coliseum area of these special Fair long time patrons. The volunteer would seek out these families or friends, gather the photos and make arrangements for presenting the days of the Fair October 12-15. And then the last day taking these items back down. If this is of interest please contact Gail Damerau gdamerau@gmail.com or call 830-914-3735. Each year we honor the following in our Fair catalog - The Guadalupe County Fair Association posthumously honors the following Directors for their years of service: Avis Forshage, Kermit Harborth, Robert Lowman, Jack Mock, Ron Velich, Dan Clark, Tommy McKinney, Wilie Johnston, Faye Talley, Ida Mae Schulz. These great folks help to build the hard work that made the Fair possible in the years past. For all those tough guys reading this we have a spot for you also! The Fair volunteers take on the task of setting up the grounds and then getting them back to the way the City of Seguin handed them over to us. We would like to build up that Fair Crew to get the task done. Are you that person? Could you assist us? Heavy lifting will be the list of tasks. No age minimum or max. We’d love to have you join that Crew team! Please give a call to Scott Henderson at 210-422-8255. He can give you more details for the Fair Crew duties. Seguin has an event downtown called Third Thursday. Ever heard of it? The Fair will be kicking off participating in that monthly event starting in April. So join us to discover some treasures in Downtown Seguin, Texas. Lots of shopping, food trucks around the square, and fun! The Fair will have a setup at The Rise at 204 South Austin St. Seguin, Texas. It’s your downtown place for office space open 24/7 visit them at riseseguin.com. We thank them for partnering with us!
